This is a laser cut acrylic pendant lamp. The red one I tried shipping to a friend in Brooklyn for a bookstore project he was working on but it was destroyed in shipping. I haven’t been working on that design much because of its fragility. I think it might be one for the water jet cut aluminum department or maybe its a DIY kit. The shadows are great – I had one in the shop and it threw shapes all over the 1200 sq. ft. work space.

This is part of a series of furniture that ships flat. Made of laser cut acrylic panels and utilizes stainless button or cap head screws with square nuts. It accommodates a standard hang lamp ficture. It was inspired by the construction of Fab@Home Fabbers that my company, Koba Industries, builds and sells. It is to me one of those pieces that has endless possibilities. A client could order each panel in their color of choice in order to create the ambiance that they want to achieve.

Posted by admin - 09/10/08 at 09:10:00 pmI have always been strangely fascinated by the concept of hotrodding mundane objects in the American white picket fence world that media devised a concept of what white picket fence america looks like. Be it a push mower, a wheel barrow or this; a picnic table I want to find a different way to make it. In this case it is a picnic table:) The catch is it is entirely made of plywood that has been cut into strips then laminated together to form the actual size of a 2×4.
